It is not just Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation and other modern leaders of our country who have taught us the value of service of others. Ancient philosophies and leaders who walked on this soil and preached amongst our people, have also given high regard to those that live not just for themselves but also for society at large.

Speaking to our people, Lord Buddha, once said: “Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”

Yashraj Bharati Samman (YBS) has been instituted by Yashraj Research Foundation (YRF), by drawing the inspiration from great leaders of this country and the ethical philosophy of being human above anything else, which is ingrained in the history of Indian civilisation. YBS has been established with the intent to not just award, but more importantly show our respect and deepest gratitude towards the forces fighting for the betterment of India and its citizens.

As India is moving towards a brighter future and gaining global significance through the efforts of our people, we are also increasingly facing unique problems in this new world. The expansion of digital media has brought tremendous growth, but it has also started eroding the essence of human touch, more so in the last two years. India is progressing at a phenomenal rate in terms of medical sciences, yet there are still many citizens with inadequate access to health care. Literacy, skill development, gender empowerment all show positive trends, as well as potential areas that require immediate attention.

Nevertheless, in the midst of this all these developments as well as ongoing issues, there are people in our country, who are relentlessly working towards providing resolutions to these problems and for the betterment of all Indian citizens.

These individuals and grass roots organisations must be recognised, felicitated and celebrated for their exemplary work. This is the core idea which led YRF to institute the Yashraj Bharati Samman.
